⚠️ The Trap of EXW
Many buyers are tempted by EXW because the initial quote looks cheaper. Under EXW, the seller simply makes the goods available at their factory. However, the buyer must handle everything — including local inland transport and Taiwan export customs clearance. For buyers in Switzerland, Brazil, or Argentina, handling export declarations without a local registered entity in Taiwan is extremely risky and can lead to costly delays.

In Taiwan's machine tool export market, FOB Taichung or FOB Kaohsiung is the most practical standard. Under FOB, the seller handles all local transport, port fees, and export customs clearance. The risk and cost only transfer to you once the goods are safely loaded onto the vessel — a clear division of responsibility that prevents unexpected port charges and compliance issues.
