In Swiss-type sliding headstock machining, micro-diameter bar feeding (<10mm) is notorious for inducing material whipping and surface scarring. When the Bar Feeder and the lathe's Guide Bushing are out of sync at high RPMs, the resulting harmonic vibration ruins clamping stability and accelerates wear on the chucking collet.
